Tallulah Belle

I just received a depressing email from my mom...it looks as if we are going to have to put our dog, Tallie down on Friday. In our family our dogs are not simply dogs. They are children, sisters, nieces, etc. They are family.
Tallie was a surprise to me when I was in 8th grade. We had a collie named Princess that died after coming home and recovering from being spade. Apparently she had hundreds of heart tumors. I wanted a golden retriever so bad, but my mom surprised me when she picked me up from track practice with Tallie, a german shephard, and I instantly fell in in love with her. She was MY first dog. She was the first dog that I got to name. She was my first dog to train to sit and stay. She is brilliant. She was always so protective of me. By having stated that I got her when I was in the 8th grade, she is obviously old. My mom and I both agreed though, that we know that we as an individual are getting older but tend to forget that the animals and people around us are also getting older. It seems like she should be 5 years old. My heart breaks when I see her and she is so frail and can barely walk....a dog that loved to chase her tail and then walk with it in her mouth around the pool just to impress you. She aged so quickly. Just months ago she was still running and playing and we were saying how frisky she was. It's still hard to believe. We all feel like we are losing a member of our family. I believe that the Lord loves animals and that we will be seeing her again one day.
Tallie, mama loves you so much! You have been such a good dog to our family and paved the way for Emmy and now Reagan. I learned on you what patience is. Obedience. Loyalty and trust.
